- Ages: 2–7 yrs · Difficulty: easy · Mess: medium
- Time: prep 20 min, activity varies
- Works for: one-on-one, small group, whole class · one batch serves about 2 kids
- Skills: fine-motor, shapes, colors, body-parts, creativity

## Materials (one batch)
- 3 piece Pumpkins in three sizes (small for the head, medium for the middle, large for the bottom)
- Kids' paint: pink, green, brown and yellow, plus other colors for the shapes
- 1 piece Paintbrushes
- Markers
- 1 sheet Paper (for the eyes) (household)
- Felt cloth (for the nose and mouth)
- Glue or tape to stick on the facial features (household)
- 1 piece Scissors (household)
- 2 piece Sticks (for the arms) (optional) (household)
- 1 piece Hat (optional) (household)
- Other embellishments (e.g. tinsel garland, yarn hair) (optional)
- Paper to cover the table (household)

## Safety
- Use washable, non-toxic kids' paint. The post doesn't say which paint was used.
- Pumpkins are heavy and can roll. An adult should help stack them so they don't fall on small hands or feet.
- Adult does the cutting of the paper and felt facial features.
- Small felt and paper pieces and sticks can be a choking or poking hazard for toddlers. Supervise closely.

## Before you start
- Cover the table with paper.
- Pick three pumpkins in graduated sizes that will stack.

## Steps
1. Paint the middle pumpkin pink.
2. Paint the largest pumpkin green.
3. Let the paint dry. Come back to paint and decorate more over a few days.
4. When the paint is dry, draw basic shapes on the pumpkin with a marker and color them in.
5. Paint the smallest pumpkin with a mix of brown and yellow for the face.
6. Adult: cut eyes from paper and a nose and mouth from felt. Then the child sticks them on the face.
7. Paint two sticks pink for the hands.
8. Once everything is dry, stack the pumpkins with the biggest on the bottom and the face on top, then put the hat on.
9. Add the stick arms and any extras, and show off your Pumpkin Lady.

## Tips
- We always try to keep our activities simple. All you need is pumpkins and paint; all the other embellishments are optional.
- The girls didn't paint and decorate all three pumpkins in one go, but they kept coming back to paint and decorate some more over 3 days. That's a good sign it's a hit.
- Putting the woman together (face, body and hands) was a good exercise for my little one.

Halloween activities for kids: Paint a pumpkin woman This month has been all about sharing Halloween activities for kids. Today we bring you one more, NOT Halloween craft but a larger pumpkin Halloween activity kids will enjoy. Presenting our Pumpkin Woman in all her geometric grandeur. We always try to keep our activities not just Halloween activities simple. All you need for this activity are pumpkins and paint. All the other embellishments are optional.

The process We started off with painting the middle pumpkin pink and the largest pumpkin green.

While the girls did not paint and decorate all the three pumpkins in one go, the good part was that they kept coming back to paint and decorate some more over the course of 3 days. Good indicator that this Halloween activity is a hit.

When the paint dried on each pumpkin, Big A drew some basic shapes with a marker and colored them in. I did a few of them on the green pumpkin.

For the face, I cut out the eyes with paper and nose and mouth with felt cloth while Baby A painted a combination of brown and yellow paint. Later she stuck the facial features on the face.

We even painted the sticks pink for hands It was a good exercise for Baby A to put the woman together. Face, body and hands.

Once they all dried, baby A helped me stack the pumpkins and put the hat on for the lady.

She is all ready to go out to our porch to sit on a borderline comfortable black stool with a spider web backdrop.
